Suction Strainers Type SUS

Suction filter for tank installation as the first link in the hydraulic filtration circuit and as a protective filter for hydraulic pumps. Installation in hydraulic tanks for direct connection to the intake line using female thread BSP or NPT. Upper end cap made of plastic/polyamide or aluminium. Lower end cap made of steel, galvanised. Standard filter material: stainless steel wire mesh (125 μm); alternative grades available. The position in the tank should always be below the minimum liquid level. The SUS series suction filters from STAUFF are the first link in the hydraulic filtration circuit and serve as protective filters for hydraulic pumps. They are installed directly in the hydraulic tank and connected to the suction line via an internal thread (BSP or NPT). Thanks to their robust design and the use of high-quality materials, they are ideal for use in mobile and stationary hydraulics.

Product overview

Our category includes the following features and options:

  • Direct tank mounting for compact installation

  • Connection types: BSP female thread (ISO 228) or NPT female thread (ANSI B1.20.1)

  • End caps: Upper end cap made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide or aluminium, lower end cap made of galvanised steel

  • Filter material: Stainless steel wire mesh with standard fineness 125 μm, alternative finenesses from 60 μm to 250 μm available

  • Optional: Integrated bypass valve with opening pressure 0.2 bar to reduce pressure fluctuations

How the suction strainers work

The suction filters are positioned in the hydraulic tank below the minimum fluid level and connected directly to the suction line. They filter coarse impurities from the fluid before it reaches the hydraulic pump, thus protecting the system from damage. Optional integrated bypass valves prevent pressure fluctuations that can occur with heavily contaminated suction strainers or highly viscous media.

  • Flow rate: up to 400 l/min (depending on size)

  • Temperature application range: -20 °C to +100 °C

  • Materials:
